Electric Wheelchairs are a major benefit to the user. With the help of an electric wheelchair the user can enjoy a wider range of activities and independence and enables the user to go almost anywhere they wish.

In today's society the independence and freedom of wheelchair users has been increased with electric wheelchairs. Electric wheelchairs are generally powered using some form of power-pack, motors, a transmission system and a controller providing directional and speed control.

Electric wheelchairs are usually a lot heavier than manual wheelchairs due to the frame, batteries and motors/transmission. The wheelchair frame has to be stronger in order to support all these components.

The technological level in today's electric wheelchairs varies widely, from simple joystick and batteries to digital technology enabling sophisticated movement or even enabling the wheelchair to rise on two wheels.
