At UK-Wheelchairs we decided it was time that we defined what we consider to be a truly lightweight self propelled wheelchair and have set the benchmark at 15KGs and under.

All the self propelled wheelchairs you will find in this section therefore weigh less than 15KGs or 33lbs. This is the TOTAL weight of the wheelchair complete with wheels and foot plates.

Some online stores quote the weight of their wheelchairs as complete but in fact use the weight of the wheelchair without the detachable parts i.e. wheels and footplates.

When storing or transporting a wheelchair it is often dismantled to make it more portable and to reduce the space require for storage.

Most rear wheels are quick release as are the footplates, meaning that dismantling the wheelchair takes literally seconds.
