This tilt in space wheelchair made by Esteem now comes complete with Elevated Leg Rests and many features normally found on wheelchairs that are far more expensive.
This wheelchair is designed for users who weigh up to 150kgs or 23 stone and is available in a 16" or 18" seat width. The aluminium frame weighs just 19kgs and folds with ease.
When it comes to transporting or storing the wheelchair the head rest and foot plates can be removed. The tilt in space action is very smooth thanks to the gas struts that control the tilting movement. Tilt in space is often considered to be superior to reclining as it tilts the entire body and not just the upper torso which is of particular benefit to those who require pressure relief. The tilt range is 98° to 134°.
A very comfortable reclining wheelchair
Other features of this tilting wheelchair include a height adjustable padded headrest that provides support for the head when the chair is tilted backwards. The arm rests can be adjusted backwards and forwards and up and down to give maximum support and comfort. The foot rests swing in/out for transfers and are also height adjustable and removeable.
For the attendant there are stepper tubes to the rear of the chair to assist when mounting the curb or a single step. There are two levers on the handles that each operate the tilting action and the brakes that work on both rear wheels to slow and stop the wheelchair. Anti tip wheels are fitted to the stepper tubes to prevent the wheelchair from being tilted too far backwards. There is also an adjustable lap belt and chest harness and puncture proof solid tyres.
Elevated leg rests now come as standard with this model.
