The AutoFold Power Chair from Drive DeVilbiss is one of a new generation of self folding electric wheelchairs. Built around a strong aluminium frame, this powerchair folds and unfolds automatically at the push of a button on a remote control fob.
Capable of travelling up to 7.5 miles from a single charge the AutoFold powerchair uses brushless motors to propel the chair at speeds up to 4mph. Designed for users up to 150kgs or 23.5 stone the powerchair has a powerful 24 volt lithium battery to ensure ample power. Under the seat there is a storage bag that can be reached when seated and there is also a backrest pocket for smaller items.
An automatic folding powerchair
When it is time to get out of the powerchair you simply flip up the footrest allowing you to stand. Once you are clear of the chair the remote control can be used to fold the powerchair in seconds ready for transportation or storage.
Comfort levels are good thanks to the front suspension, removable seat cushion and padded backrest. The angle of the arm rests can be adjusted for comfort and they also flip up to make getting on and off easier. Controlling the AutoFold powerchair is simple thanks to the intelligent joystick control which allows control of both speed and direction. The battery status can be seen alongside the joystick. Slowing and stopping the AutoFold is very smooth thanks to the electromagnetic brakes.
