Lightweight aluminium wheelchairs are easy to use from many points of view. From the wheelchair users point of view, the lighter the wheelchair is the easier it is to propel if you are in a manual or self propelled model. Lightweight aluminium wheelchairs are also easier to handle in every way, particularly when it comes to lifting the chair in to the car boot, on to the train or bus. Most aluminium wheelchairs have the same strength of their steel counterparts but are considerably lighter in weight and wil generally share the same maximum user weight limit.
The heaviest part of the wheelchair is then referred to as the carry weight. The models we have selected in these sections all have a 'carry weight' of less than 12 KG's. We have created two sub sections of lightweight aluminium wheelchairs which you can visit below.
All of these models will break down or disassemble to make the job of storing or transporting easier. If you genreally travel alone and prefer to use a manual wheelchair then one from our range of lightweight aluminium self propelled wheelchairs will suit you down to the ground.
If your disability dictates that you need to use a transit wheelchair then our range of lightweight aluminium transit wheelchairs will have a model to suit you. Transit wheelchairs are often better suited to older users or those who are infirm and do not have the upper body strength to propel themselves for any length of time.
